The Lakes Gin (70cl 46%)

Get to know: The Lakes Gin (70cl 46%)

Tasting Note

The Lakes Gin is a classic English gin with vibrant notes of juniper, cracked black pepper and orange peel.

The distillery elevates flavour by using only a select few botanicals. These are gently infused in the finest British wheat spirit and distilled in a traditional copper pot still with the purest water, drawn from their Lake District National Park home in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

By steeping the botanicals overnight like loose-leaf tea, they interact freely with the warm spirit to encourage the essential oils to release more slowly, protecting their delicate nature. The traditional copper pot still then runs slow and long to extract the maximum amount of flavour.

The end result? Simply beautiful.

Producer Info

The Lakes Distillery in Cockermouth is within the Lake District National Park in the north of England. It is the first distillery operating in the Lakes for over 100 years. Paul Currie was a veteran of the Scottish Whisky industry and saw the potential in the area. After renovating an old dairy farm they were able to bring that vision to reality. Together with whiskymaker Dhavall Gandhi they set about creating a unpeated, sherried whisky that was distinctive for the place, and continue to create and innovate through new editions.

Inspired by the majestic Lake District National Park, their gin collection is a showcase of exquisite taste, discerning sourcing and an exacting process of elimination. With a long, slow and gentle distillation in a traditional copper pot still, it is an exceptionally smooth London dry style gin, designed to stand the test of time.

Using only a select few botanicals, they achieve flavour precision, ensuring every nuance is pitch perfect and crystal clear on the palate. Less is more.
