Easter Feasting: The Best Wine Pairings

Wine for Easter Brunch

Brunch is one of the best things about Easter weekend, whether you’re going for smoked salmon bagels, eggs Benedict, fresh fruit, a charcuterie board and brie. A fresh, lively wine is key to keeping things light and refreshing.

Perfect Pairings:

  • Felines Jourdan, Picpoul de Pinet - Crisp, citrusy, and ideal with smoked salmon bagels, asparagus frittata, or a goat’s cheese tart.
  • Terres Fideles, Montsable Reserve Chardonnay - This lightly oaked Chardonnay has a creamy texture that’s great with eggs Benedict, mushroom quiche, or even fluffy pancakes with syrup.
  • Amie X Rose - A vibrant, organic Languedoc rosé that pairs beautifully with fresh fruit, charcuterie boards, and soft cheeses like Brie.

Wine for Easter Lamb

A classic Easter Sunday centrepiece, roast lamb is rich, succulent, and full of flavour. Whether slow-roasted with garlic and rosemary or grilled with Middle Eastern spices, lamb needs a red wine with good structure and freshness.

Perfect Pairings:

Wine with Easter Ham

Whether it’s honey-glazed, studded with cloves, or slow-roasted, ham is a deliciously sweet-salty dish that needs a wine with good acidity to balance it out.

Perfect Pairings:

Vegan Easter Dishes

Easter is all about celebrating the arrival of spring, and what better way to do that than with vibrant, fresh, and flavour-packed vegan dishes? Whether you're catering for plant-based guests or simply looking to use the freshest seasonal veggies, this dish is every bit as impressive as a traditional roast.

Spring Pea & Asparagus Risotto with Wild Garlic & Lemon

Risotto is a luxurious, comforting dish that feels special enough for Easter, yet light and fresh enough to suit the season. Try a version packed with vibrant spring peas, tender asparagus, and fragrant wild garlic, all of which are in peak season around Easter. Finished with lemon zest and a drizzle of good olive oil, it’s bursting with flavour and colour. Pair with a crisp spring salad (think shaved fennel, radish, and rocket) and roasted baby carrots with a maple glaze for a beautifully balanced Easter meal.

Perfect Pairings:

  • Domaine Gayda, T'air d'Oc Sauvignon Blanc -This Sauvignon Blanc is zesty, bright, and full of citrusy freshness. It’s a great go-to for a casual evening or a light lunch. Perfect with salads, or simply on its own, it’s a refreshing, easy-drinking white that never disappoints!
  • Ecker-Eckhof, Gruner Veltliner von Eckhof -  If you prefer something with a little more spice and texture, this Austrian Grüner Veltliner brings white pepper and stone fruit notes that complement the dish beautifully.
  • Domaine Gayda, En Passant White - Fresh, bright, and full of Mediterranean character, it’s the kind of bottle you’ll want to open with a plate of asparagus or just sip in the garden on a warm evening. A great choice if you love a white with both elegance and energy.

Wine with Chocolate

Now if you're looking for a wine and chocolate pairing, you'll need something that has a much higher level of sweetness and so it's best to look to something like Tawny port, specifically for us Niepoort, Tawny Dee. With an average age of three and a half years, it still has plenty of luscious fruit, delicate nutty aromas and hints of dried raisin, making it a totally spot-on pairing for milk chocolate.

If you prefer the creamy sweetness of white chocolate why not try a lighter aromatic wine like Cantine Volpi, Moscato Frizzante? The light fizz and peachy fruit are a winner with this lighter choc.

For dark chocolate, reach for something with the kind of fruit flavour that you'd enjoy with the chocolate and avoid anything too tannic. Zinfandel can work well as a dry red here, as it has enough intensity and residual sugar to balance the chocolate.

Easter is all about generosity and celebration. And let’s be honest - who doesn’t love receiving or sharing a great bottle of wine? So gifting at easter is about showing someone you care, either in person or by sending something to show you're thinking of someone.
