Hanewald-Schwerdt Riesling "Auf Der Pochel" Trocken is a cracking dry German white with loads of energy and zip. Expect bright citrus – think lime peel and grapefruit – balanced by crunchy green apple, subtle white peach and a zesty minerality. Bone dry, but with bags of flavour and a clean, refreshing finish that keeps you coming back for more.
This is a textbook dry Riesling from the Pfalz – elegant, aromatic and super food-friendly.
"Hanewald-Schwerdt takes its name from the two cousins who run the winery. Riesling is one of two grapes they specialise in, and this is an excellent dry and zesty example. If you like Albariño, give this a try."
Hanewald-Schwerdt is a small, family-owned estate based in the Pfalz region of Germany, run by cousins Thomas and Stephan. Together they’ve injected fresh energy into traditional winemaking, focusing on sustainable viticulture and expressing the character of their vineyards with minimal intervention.
The "Auf der Pochel" vineyard sits on limestone-rich soils, which give the Riesling its trademark minerality and tension. Grapes are hand-picked, gently pressed, and fermented cool in stainless steel to lock in that pure, zippy fruit and natural freshness. The result is a dry Riesling with poise, depth and bags of charm.
