Get to know: Find your new favourite... Sauvignon Blanc Alternatives

Description

A selection of white wines from around the world that are the perfect way to broaden your horizons without taking a blind punt. We've put together this case using wines that work well as alternatives to New Zealand Sauvignon with the aim of helping you to find your new favourite. We hope you enjoy, let us know!

What's in it?

Ecker, Gruner Veltliner von Eckhof

Gruner Veltliner is Austria’s premium white grape variety and here Ecker have captured that zingy citrus fruit and starburst like acidity to create a light, easy drinking white that you’re sure to enjoy. Gruner pairs brilliantly with poultry so try whipping up some of the local cuisine - Austrian Schnitzel would work brilliantly.

Sensale Grillo Organic

This is fresh, fruity Grillo at its best – a crisp, dry white that’s packed with flavour but oh-so easy to drink. You’ll find peach, lemon zest, green apple and a hint of almond, all wrapped up in a clean, mineral finish.

SAAM Grenache Blanc

If you like your whites with a bit of texture but still bright and zingy, this one's for you. It’s got all that lovely tropical fruit, but there’s a touch of spice and creaminess that gives it a bit of depth. Plus, it’s Fairtrade, so you can feel good about every sip. I’d crack this open with grilled prawns, roast chicken, or even a well-made fish and chips!

Hanewald-Schwerdt, Riesling "Auf Der Pochel"

Riesling is Germany’s premier variety and has a fantastic citrus & stone fruit aromas with nuances of melons and herbs. It shares the minerality of NZ SB Dry Riesling and is silky, lively with nice acidity. Really great quality stuff. Look beyond the unnassuming label you're in for a treat. A perfect pairing for fish taco's bursting with fresh lime juice and creamy avocado.

Vila Jardim Selection White

Another great example of expressive, fruity and fresh Portuguese white wine. This is an elegant, sophisticated white wine with a vibrant palate of citrus fruit backed by a lean minerality. Flavours of lemon zest, grapefruit and honeydew and a crisp finish makes this one that keeps you returning for another sip. Not unlike NZ SB it’s bursting with juicy flavour.

Domaine Gayda, T'air d'Oc Sauvignon Blanc

We felt we had to put at least one Sauvignon on the list, so we decided to go to France for it. This Sauvignon Blanc is zesty, bright, and full of citrusy freshness. It’s a great go-to for a casual evening or a light lunch. Perfect with seafood, salads, or simply on its own, it’s a refreshing, easy-drinking white that never disappoints!
