Our Top Gift Picks for £30 or under

1 Bottle Sancerre Gift in Wooden Box

A good idea is to keep it classic with tried and tested wines that offer sophistication and class whenever they're poured. Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre in France's Loire Valley absolutely ticks these boxes. It'll be an ideal match if you're serving up oysters, but is also perfect with creamy goat's cheese

Kate says: "A good Sancerre is still a real treat and this is an example that really hits the spot. There's no finer example of bone-dry Sauvignon Blanc and Daniel Crochet has captured the pure, crisp fruit and limestone minerality beautifully."

Domaine de Landreau Crémant de Loire Gift for Mother's Day

Cremant de Loire Gift

Put the fizz into their day with this superb Crémant de Loire sparkling wine in a smart gift box. This is great alternative to Champagne, made with care by an excellent independent producer. This Crémant was a big hit last Christmas and more and more drinkers are discovering it's charms.

Kate Says: "Crémant is the name given to traditional method sparkling wine made outside of the Champagne region in France. This means you often get much better value for money as shown by this elegant example from the Loire. It's just great, really fresh at first then moreish."

2 bottle Thank You Rosé Wine Gift

For those times when you need to say thank you with something special. We've chosen two of our favourite Rosé wines. Presented in a smart gift box. We picked the Estandon Le Rollier, a beautiful Provence-style pale rosé made on the Mediterranean coast and Herdade de Sao Miguel Rosé a lovely Portuguese rosé  rosé full of berry fruit and a little bit of tropical character.

Sparkling wines to enjoy with Mum

You can't go wrong with some bubbles. Opening a bottle of sparkling wine creates a moment of celebration. It's easy to enjoy and is very food friendly. Here are some of our top picks.

Champagne Lete Vautrain Brut 204

Champagne Lete-Vautrain, Cote 204 Brut NV

This is from an independent winemaker and is brilliant value compared to the well-known brands. We love working with smaller Champagne producers. You get so much more for your money and this is a superb example. The apple and apricot fruit is bright and fresh. It’s complex and round. Gorgeous stuff.

Try this with smoked salmon blini's

Flint Vineyard, Charmat Rose

English sparkling wine is trending up and there's a wider range of styles being produced than ever. This is a new favourite of ours that is fun and modern, just like lots of mums out there.

Flint were the first English producer to begin to make wine using the Charmat method, which is now becoming widely recognised as a style that is very much suited to England's climate.

A sprightly English sparkling rose bursting with strawberries and cream. But it’s not just all fruit: there is a slight praline nuttiness in the background, which gives the wine some complexity.

On the palate it is crisp and crunchy and still full of red fruits. It is both easy drinking yet structured and serious enough to make a fine apéritif. Sassy, summery and fun.

Bollinger Special Cuvee NV

Sometimes only the big names will do. This famous champagne is guaranteed to satisfy. A precise blend of several harvests fruit and reserve wines, which lend the wine all its structure and style. The nose has a beautiful aromatic complexity with ripe fruit and spicy aromas; hints of roasted apples, compote and peaches. The palate has a subtle combination of structure, length and vivacity; a soft texture and flavours of pear, brioche and spicy aromas with notes of fresh walnut.

Kate Says

"A classic champagne that offers a rich and complex taste. Aged for at least three years in the cellar it is a balanced and elegant wine that I'd enjoy with a seafood risotto."

Rosé wines your Mum will love

We see rosé's popularity at Mother's day as sign of the continued upward trend of this style. It is stylish and sophisticated and makes for an easy wine to enjoy together or to give as a gift.

Izadi, Larrosa Rioja Rosado

Owned and run by Lalo Antón and his family, Izadi, which means ‘nature’ in the Basque language, is a project rooted in a passion for gastronomy and wine. This rosé has a lovely pale salmon colour. On the nose, aromas of strawberry, raspberry and red cherries combine with notes of white peach and pear. Refreshing acidity on the palate leads to a crisp and elegant finish.

Kate Says: "If you love Provence-style rose, you'll love this! It has the same light, soft red berry fruit and refreshing acidity. Plus it looks amazing. Ideal as a gift or pair it with smoked salmon."

Like Whispering Angel Rosé, then you love Les Deux Angels from Chateau L'Escarelle

Chateau L'Escarelle Les deux Anges Rose

Chateau de L’Escarelle are one of the most prestigious wine estates in the heart of Provence, with 100 hectares of organically certified vineyards set in 1,000 hectares of beautiful woodland. Subtle and elegant with wild strawberry and citrus fruit on the nose. The palate is clean and fresh with beautiful smoothness and pink grapefruit and cranberry notes. If you're looking for the Whispering wine that has become so popular, this is your in-the-know choice to go one better. (It is even called The Two Angels and who knows what they might be saying to each other. Lean in to this to find out.)

Wines to enjoy with your Sunday lunch

If you're getting together with family and having a sunday lunch together, why not take a bottle that'll pair nicely with the food. Here are a couple of easy winners you can lean on to make it special.

Scheid Family - Ranch 32 Pinot Noir 2019

Scheid Family - Ranch 32 Pinot Noir

A lovely silky and elegant Pinot Noir from Monterey Counties, Arroyo Seco AVA. 12 months of ageing in 100% French oak adds complexity and rounds out the tannins, delicate cherries, rasberries and currants combine with hints of mocha and vanilla from the oak. Medium bodied with soft, velvety tannins and a long elegant finish.

A fantastic Pinot that really shows the quality of Monterey and pairs well with salmon or roast pork.

KWV The Mentors Chenin Blanc

This is a class act and I like the name as a nod to the role of Mother's in our lives, mentoring us through life. KWV is one of South Africa's leading wine producers, renowned throughout the world for their premium quality. This is alive with aromas of ripe mango, concentrated apricot, honeysuckle and jasmine. The creamy and textured palate shows hints of dried peach and zesty lime, with good length, rich flavours and freshness.

This would work with a roast chicken dinner or a fish pie.

Gifts for the those who prefer spirits

Lakes Gin

 The Lakes Gin

The Lakes Gin is a classic English gin with vibrant notes of juniper, cracked black pepper and orange peel.

The distillery elevates flavour by using only a select few botanicals. These are gently infused in the finest British wheat spirit and distilled in a traditional copper pot still with the purest water, drawn from their Lake District National Park home in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Alcohol-Free gifts

Alcohol-Free Wine Gift

An ideal gift for the those don't indulge in alcohol but still want a high quality drink, presented in a smart gift box. These are our most popular alcohol free wines - an aromatic and fruity white from Australia, and a crisp Cava.

Botivo Aperitif (50cl, 0.1%)

Botivo is one of the more interesting and satisfying alcohol alternatives we've tried, and while it's great in a spritz, it has a lot of potential for blending. I tried it with Hip Pop Ginger Yuzu kombucha and it’s brilliant. Botivo founders Sam Paget Steavenson and Imme Ermgassem use real ingredients, no flavourings and low intervention techniques to make this delicious, complex and multilayered drink. It's a little like vermouth in style, with a honeyed sweetness followed by a herbal bitterness that makes it feel grown-up. and it is very addictive once you get a taste for it. There's nothing else quite like it, but that is very much part of it's charm.

If in doubt, choose glassware

If you really can't decide on what wines choose, why not turn to a stylish glassware instead? That way they'll be smiling whatever they're drinking out of them. We have a high-quality range that can complement different styles or be used as versatile everyday glasses.

Vervino Champagne Glasses

Schott Zwiesel, Vervino Champagne Wine Glass (Pack of 2)

We've said it before and we'll say it again. Glassware does make a difference. Find the right glass and it really does elevate the experience. This Vervino Champagne glass by Schott Zwiesel feels very elegant in the hand and allows the fine aromas and flavours come into their own as it is shaped like an elongated goblet narrowing slightly towards the top.

Vervino Riesling Glasses

Schott Zwiesel, Vervino Riesling Wine Glass (Pack of 2)

This is called a Riesling glass since the glass makers are German and naturally suggest the wine grown on their doorstop, but this is also a wonderful size and shape for Sauvignon Blanc and Albarino wines. The glass is thin and slightly fluted to maximise the delicate flow of aromas from aromatic grapes.

Eto Wine Decanter, Silver Mirror Finish

If a glass a of wine a day is all you desire, then this stunning decanter can ensure your wine never fades. An ideal gift for a wine lover and for those who like to enjoy finer wines in moderation.

eto gives you the freedom to enjoy wine on your time. Its innovative, patented design prevents oxidation, to preserve your wine’s full flavour until you’re ready for another glass.
