Get to know: Paul Jaboulet Aine, Cornas Les Grandes Terrasses 2006
Tasting Note
A outstanding example of Rhone Valley Syrah from the Cornas appellation. The colour shows it's age with a deep garnet in the glass. The aromas are intense and fully developed. You'll find blackberry, blackcurrant, bramble mingling with elderberry and raspberry combined with a rich savoury complexity of brown sugar, caramel, earthy, leather, black tea, cedar, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is quite rich and full, with a touch of jamminess, but also quite savoury. There's enough tannin and acidity to keep it balanced. This is one to drink now, probably not suitable for further ageing.
Try this with a robust, herby beef stew.
