Vila Jardim Selection Red 2020

Get to know: Vila Jardim Selection Red

A bold and spicy Portuguese red wine from the historic Tejo region.

Tasting Note

Vila Jardim Selection Red is a rich, full-bodied blend that balances juicy dark fruit with warm spice. Deep ruby in colour with aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and blackberry, lifted by a peppery spice note. On the palate, the Merlot, Syrah, and Touriga Nacional grapes bring a rounded, smooth texture with 6 months of oak adding depth and structure. It finishes with gentle tannins and lingering warmth.  If you like a bold and spicy wine, this is for you.

Top food pairings:

  • Grilled beef with smoky rubs
  • Portuguese Stone Soup (Sopa da Pedra)
  • Smoky bean chilli or hearty vegetarian casseroles
Kate Says

"This is a very tasty drop with lots of rich, spicy fruit and a soft texture. The name translates as Garden Village and we were impressed by the authentic quality of fruit and winemaking. Very good value. I'd enjoy this at a BBQ"

Producer Info

Vila Jardim wines are made by Quinta Vale do Armo, perched along the Tagus River in central Portugal. The estate combines temperate climate, clay-limestone soils, and altitudes of 150–250m to create wines with smooth, fruity character. Under the Lindeborg group, the estate focuses on sustainability and quality, using modern viticultural techniques while respecting the region’s rich heritage.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: Merlot, Syrah, Touriga Nacional
  • Grapes harvested at optimal ripeness to balance freshness and richness
  • Total destemming followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled infrusto-conical vats
  • Partial ageing in oak barrels for 6 months to add texture and complexity

  • Region: Tejo, Portugal
  • Style: Red, still, medium- to full-bodied
