Dom. Remoriquet, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2017

Get to know: Domaine Remoriquet, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2017

Tasting Note

Les Damodes is located at the Vosne-Romanee end of Nuits-Saint-George and follows the classic style of weightier, well structured Pinot Noir. It has inviting aromas of rose and liquorice and concentrated flavours of cherry, strawberry and blackcurrant with some gamey notes developing. The tannins are fine and silky and there's a good intensity running throughout. The finish just teases a mineral note.

This is ideal with a pan fried duck breast.

Kate Says

"Nuit-St-Georges is the most famous village in the Côte-de-Nuits region of Burgundy. The Pinot Noir made here by Gilles is a wonderful example that delivers the more muscular and intense fruit with a great deal of finesse. I'd love this with a fillet steak."

Producer Info

Gilles Remoriquet is not a winemaker who rests on his laurels, forever looking for ways to improve his wines. This family-run estate has been in Nuits-Saint-Georges for four generations and has 10 hectares across the appellations of Nuits-Saint-Georges (Village and Premier Cru) and Vosne-Romanée. Most recently he has been to the Jura to see a specialist about selecting the right blend of manure and has bought a second sorting table which eliminates under-ripe berries by flotation. The attention to detail flows right the way through from his vineyards to the winery. He ferments his wine in concrete tanks to and matures in mostly old oak as he says 'I want wines with some freshness that show their fruit – not their wood"

The estate has HVE and Terra Vitis certification.
