Like everyone, we've been devastated to see the situation unfold in Ukraine over the past few weeks.
We wanted to update you all on what Reserve Wines is doing as a business to help with the ongoing crisis.
Our friends over at Les Caves de Pyrene got in touch with us last month to see if we'd be able to help them with their crowdfunding initiative. Les Caves are one of our importers and have been gathering support across the wine industry in Europe and the UK, seeking a practical way to help rather than just passing on funds.
They've been reaching out to their network of winemakers across Europe, many of whom have generously offered to help house refugees in lodgings that would otherwise have been used for seasonal workers and tourists.
Of course this isn't without its logistical challenges. And so Les Caves have turned to us and other wine businesses here to help raise funds to support the relocation process and assist these families as much as possible as they try to rebuild their lives. There are so many campaigns out there no doubt doing really good work, but this one felt like one for us to get behind.
Over the course of March, we've sold over 14,200 glasses of wine in our bars. By donating 15p per glass, we're able to contribute £2300 in donations to Les Caves' fundraising efforts.
