Gran Reserva Rioja Gift in Wooden Box

Made only in years of exceptional harvest of the best quality fruit, Gran Reserva Rioja wines must be a minimum of 5 years old, with 2 years minimum in oak barrels and 3 years in bottle before release. These have the lots more savoury, oaky flavour. Only 2% of Rioja is Gran Reserva, so you know you're getting the best. Presented in a wooden gift box, this is a wonderful red wine gift.
Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Gift in Wooden Box
The most famous appellation in the Rhone is Chateauneuf-Du-Pape (it translates as The Pope's New Castle) which can be made with up to 14 different grape varieties. The main ones are Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvedre and they create big wines with lots of spicy dark fruits.
This terrific wine from Domaine de la Cote de l'Ange delivers the quality you expect from this famous wine region. The aroma has blackcurrants, blackberries, oak, tobacco and violets which carry on to the palate. There's a good balance to the weight and texture which is full but not too heavy. There's enough acidity, to give structure and noticable, but not chewy tannins on the flavoursome dry finish.
This would be terrific with a roast lamb.
