From London Career to Hampshire Winery
The Black Chalk story begins with founder and winemaker Jacob Leadley.
After leaving a comfortable career in London, Jacob took the leap into wine, retraining as a winemaker and gaining valuable experience at Hampshire's respected Hattingley Valley. Starting with grapes sourced from local growers, he gradually built Black Chalk from a small-scale project into one of England's most talked-about boutique wineries.
By 2020, the winery found its permanent home in the Test Valley, transforming a former dairy farm into a modern winery, tasting room and cellar.
Today, Jacob works alongside assistant winemaker Zoë Driver, one of the rising talents in English wine. Together, they oversee every stage of production, from vineyard to bottle.
