Yves Cuilleron, St Jospeh "Les Pierres Seches" 2018
100% Syrah from one of the Northern Rhone's top appelations and producers. In the vineyards there is a care for the land, avoiding the use of insecticides and using only organic fertiliser. The grapes are hand picked and sorted before spending around 3 months fermenting in open top vats. The wine then spends around 16 months maturing in oak barrels. The nose is open giving lots of red and black berries with a hint of white pepper. On the palate the wine is juicy and full bodied with pconcentrated, firm tannins. A wine that can be drunk now or lay down to age for up to a decade. The perfect pairing with game dishes such as veal with mushrooms and sauteed new potatoes.
