Get to know: W.L. Weller 12 YO Bourbon (70cl, 45%)
Twelve years in oak - a wheated Kentucky bourbon whiskey from W.L. Weller, bottled at 45%.
Tasting Note
Toffee, vanilla and caramel greet you on the nose. The palate is soft and creamy, with maple sweetness and a little cinnamon spice. There's some warmth along the way. The finish is warm and fairly long, with a hint of wood and black cherry.
Serving suggestions:
- Neat, with a splash of water if you like
- Over ice with a twist of orange
- In an Old Fashioned for a softer, rounder take
Kate Says
"Weller uses wheat in the mash in place of rye, which makes for a softer, rounder bourbon. This one has twelve years behind it. Pour it neat and give it a few minutes in the glass before you start."
