Vigneti del Salento, 'I Muri' Negroamaro 2024

Get to know: Vigneti del Salento ‘I Muri’ Negroamaro 2024

A smooth and characterful Italian red wine from the southern-Italian vineyards of Puglia.

Tasting Note

Vigneti del Salento ‘I Muri’ Negroamaro 2024 is a soft, generous red that delivers plenty of ripe fruit with a savoury twist. Deep ruby red in colour with purple hues, it opens with inviting aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and a touch of spice typical of Negroamaro. On the palate, this Puglia red wine is medium-bodied and velvety, offering juicy dark fruit flavours balanced by gentle tannins and a subtle savoury edge. It finishes smooth and rounded, making it an easy-drinking yet characterful Italian red.

Top food pairings:

  • Classic Italian meatballs in tomato sauce
  • Grilled aubergine and tomato pasta
  • Chargrilled sausages or herby roast pork
Kate Says

"If you like a juicy red with a bit of southern Italian warmth, this is right up your street. It’s the kind of bottle that works just as well with a midweek pasta as it does with a weekend spread."

Producer Info

Vigneti del Salento, part of the Fantini group founded by Valentino Sciotti, is dedicated to producing high-quality wines from southern Italy, particularly Puglia. Working closely with local growers around Manduria and Sava, the team combines traditional vineyard practices with modern expertise. The region’s warm climate and mineral-rich clay soils help produce expressive, fruit-forward wines, with winemaker Danilo Gizzi and consultant Filippo Baccalaro focusing on capturing the richness and character of Negroamaro with minimal intervention.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Negroamaro
  • Harvested after a slower ripening season to build flavour concentration and balance
  • Grapes gently pressed and cooled for controlled maceration with regular pumping over
  • Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit purity
  • Aged in used American and French oak for 5–6 months to add softness and subtle complexity

Good to know:

  • Region: Puglia, Italy
  • Style: Red, still, medium-bodied
  • Closure: Agglomerated cork
  • Vegan: Yes
  • ABV: 14%
  • Vintage: 2024

Why we love it:

This Italian red wine from Puglia is all about easy-going richness and drinkability. With its ripe dark fruit, velvety texture, and savoury finish, it’s a brilliant go-to for relaxed dinners, hearty dishes, or simply unwinding with a good glass of Negroamaro.
