Valley View, Domaine Rogue 'Applegate Valley' Pinot Noir Gravel lane 2021

Get to know: Valley View, Domaine Rogue ‘Applegate Valley’ Pinot Noir Gravel Lane 2021

An expressive Oregon Pinot Noir from the sun-kissed Applegate Valley.

Tasting Note

Domaine Rogue Gravel Lane 2021 is a silky, elegant red that balances vibrant red fruit with savoury spice and gentle oak. Crafted by Valley View’s winemaking team under the guidance of Mike Brunson, it captures the finesse of Pinot Noir with the warmth and character of Southern Oregon – a fine example of how this region is carving out its place among the world’s Pinot greats. Pale ruby in colour with enticing aromas of rose water, raspberry, sandalwood and leather. The palate reveals layers of ripe red berries, blackberry and espresso, with subtle notes of cola, cherry, grilled meat and tobacco. Light to medium-bodied yet beautifully complex, it shows silky tannins and a bright line of acidity, finishing long, tangy and refined.

Top food pairings:

  • Grilled salmon with herby butter
  • Roast duck with spiced cherry sauce
  • Charcuterie and mature soft cheeses
Kate Says

“We finally have an “affordable” Oregon Pinot and it’s a banger. Warming, complex and juicy. From a well-established family with several domains, this is their higher end estate.  The wine as bags of ripe raspberry and spice, very fresh with lots of fruit there. A glass that invites you to slow down and savour the moment.”

Producer Info

Valley View Winery is one of Oregon’s pioneering estates, with roots tracing back to the 1850s when Peter Britt first established vineyards near Jacksonville in the Rogue Valley. Revived in 1972 by the Wisnovsky family, the estate now celebrates over 50 years of winemaking heritage. With a renewed focus on soil health, minimal intervention and showcasing Burgundian varieties, Valley View created Domaine Rogue to highlight the very best wines from their Applegate Valley vineyards, crafted with precision and respect for terroir.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
  • Harvested in the warm, dry 2021 vintage to ensure ripe fruit expression
  • Careful fermentation to preserve aromatics and texture
  • Aged for 12 months in once-used French oak barrels
  • Bottled with minimal intervention to retain purity of fruit and terroir

  • Region: Applegate Valley, Oregon, USA
  • Style: Red, light to medium-bodied
