All the grapes for the Gimblett Gravels Syrah come from the Trinity Hill Estate vineyards of Tin Shed and Gimblett Stones.Hand harvested, 25% of grapes were fermented in whole bunches to contribute freshness, aromatics and structure. Aged in a mixture of new and old French oak barrrels for 14 months to add more texture and depth.Â
The 2018 Syrah is full of wild raspberry, blueberry and cracked black pepper with hints of vanilla from the oak. The tannins are powerful but well balanced and ripe with great savoury structure and resfreshing acidity on the finish. A great choice to pair with aged Gouda or braised beef short rib. Will continue to develop over the next five years if cellaring.Â
