Get to know: The Lakes Distillery, Whiskymaker's Reserve No.6 Single Malt
Tasting Note
Another superb release in the Whiskymaker series. This is rich and aromatic with oriental spice, marzipan with rose water, candied ginger and polished oak. The palate is rich and mellow with sun-dried dates, toasted teacake, and hints of gentle spice before moving to a rich and complex finish with lingering spice.
This creates a different mood to previous releases and is more flavour-driven, and with more woodspice. It is non-chill filtered, natural colour, and bottled at 52% ABV.
Very Limited stock available and once it's gone, it's gone!
Producer Info
The penultimate release in The Whiskymaker’s Reserve series, No.6 is an evolution and exploration of The Lakes single malt whisky’s sherry-led signature style.
Matured in the finest, meticulously sourced Oloroso, PX and red wine casks, comprising Spanish and American oak, it is a complex and aromatic whisky which retains the bold style synonymous with The Whiskymaker’s Reserve but brings exotic spice and delicate fragrant characters to the fore.
The Lakes Distillery in Cockermouth is within the Lake District National Park in the north of England. It is the first whisky distillery operating in the Lakes for over 100 years. Paul Currie was a veteran of the Scottish Whisky industry and saw the potential in the area. After renovating an old dairy farm they were able to bring that vision to reality. Together with whiskymaker Dhavall Gandhi they set about creating a unpeated, sherried whisky that was distinctive for the place, and continue to create and innovate through new editions.
