A traditional Portuguese blend of Castelão, Aragonez, and Touriga Nacional, picked by hand, fermented with wild yeasts, trodden by foot and bottled without fining or filtration. Full of bright, juicy fruit, dark berries and earthy, rustic tannins which are just lifted by the bright acidity from the Castelao.
A great red to enjoy slightly chilled or paired with lighter chicken dishes or even simply cooked salmon fillets.
This red is bold yet smooth, with juicy dark fruit flavours and a hint of spice and fresh acidity. It’s an easy-drinking wine that’s perfect for casual dinners or sharing with friends. Pair it with grilled meats or a hearty pasta for a delicious match!
Ramilo Family Wines are now into their 4th generation of winemakers with brothers Pedro & Nuno focusing on estate grown, native varieties, wild yeast fermentation and minimal intervention to create wines which really express the place where they were made. They have planted several vineyards in the Lizandro Valley, North of Lisbon, with local clones of indigenous varieties such as Castelão and Vital. They're producing wonderful, fresh wines from these low-yielding vines on clay-limestone soils, with a definite Atlantic influence.
Ramilo also have vineyards in the DOC region of Colares, of Ramisco and Malvasia, both planted on the sandy cliff-tops. They are the only private estate producer to vinify and bottle their own Colares wines 'in house', rather than having them made by the local co-op, as is traditionally the obligation.
