Quinta da Raza, Arinto 2024

Get to know: Quinta da Raza, Arinto

Tasting Note

Quinta da Raza, Arinto 2024 is a cracking Portuguese white wine that’s all about freshness, zing and pure fruit character. Bursting with ripe apple, peach and juicy pear, there’s also a delicate floral lift and a lovely minerally snap thanks to the granite soils of the Vinho Verde region. Crisp, light and vibrant with balanced acidity – it’s refreshing from first sip to last.

Food pairings:

  • Lemon and herb couscous with roasted veg
  • Pan-fried sea bass with a citrus butter
  • Young, creamy cheeses like fresh goat’s cheese or ricotta
Kate Says

“This is the kind of wine I want in the fridge all summer. It’s clean, zesty and very moreish – a real palate refresher. Perfect with seafood, or just on its own in the garden with your feet up.”

Producer Info

Quinta da Raza has been a family affair since 1791, nestled in the Basto sub-region of Vinho Verde, northern Portugal. The Teixeira Coelho family have always believed in working with the land rather than against it – and today, they lead the way in sustainable winemaking. In fact, they were the first Vinho Verde producer to be certified for sustainable winegrowing.

The estate sits around 250m up on gentle slopes with sunny exposure, giving ideal conditions for the Vinho Verde Arinto wine to thrive. Arinto is a native Portuguese grape known for its high acidity and citrusy lift, and the team at Raza really let it shine.

For the 2024 vintage, conditions were spot-on: the grapes were hand-harvested in late August before the September rains, in perfect health. Once picked, they’re gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel to lock in all those vibrant aromas and crisp flavours. A short rest on fine lees adds a little texture without muting the brightness.

This wine is part of the estate’s push to highlight local grapes like Arinto in a pure, expressive style. It's a brilliant example of how traditional winemaking and modern techniques can work hand-in-hand – and one of the best single-varietal whites coming out of the region.
