Mike and Claudia Etze spent 15 years searching for the perfect vineyard sites and in the year 2000 they purchased a plot of land in Waikari, where they've now been creating truly remarkable, world rennowned wines for 20 years. In 2017 Steve Smith and Brian Sheth realised their own dream of creating wine together and were honoured to take on the legacy of Pyramid Valley. Their philosophy remains very much holistic, using biodynamics in the vineyards and following natural principles in the winery, using indigenous yeasts, natural fining and minimal filtration. Aiming to produce wines that truly reflect their place in the world.
The orange wine is a blend of Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Muscat, full of orange rind and earthy complexity. There's great weight and texture on the palate with orange rind, campari, negroni flavours and grippy tannins. An interesting wine that's definitely suited to pairing with food such as tapas.
