Murdoch Hill Syrah, medium bodied and full of sweet red berries, juicy plums and rich vanilla, underpinned by black pepper spice and balanced with refreshing cranberry acidity. A fresh, approachable Syrah from the Adeleide hills.
Murdoch Hill has been in the Downer family since 1939 but vines were onlly planted in 1998 and since Michael Downer took over the winemaking in 2012 he's taken the wines to a new level winning the Young gun of the year winemaking award in 2017.
Pairing wise lamb is a top option here, a simply cooked lamb rump with parmentier root vegetables and a red wine jus would work a treat.
