Get to know: Mossburn Teaninich Single Cask 2008
Tasting Note
On the nose, floral, grassy new mown hay; giving away to linseed, a touch of incense and just a little hint of dusty old books. On the palate, spice and black pepper to the fore, some complex spice and undertones to charred wood and pipe tobacco, the finish brings in a little sweetness and some roasted hazelnut notes.
Producer Info
The first bottling under the Mossburn name was released in 2017 as a range of classic Independent Bottler Malts. In the nearly three decades prior, the team developed and honed its skills in blending and bottling whiskies and a variety of other spirits. Their combined experience spans generations, with over a century of continuous family history in the Scotch Whisky industry.
The 2023 Single cask series offers a distinctive, individual expression from a single cask of select whiskies by independent distilleries, each finished with a distinct flavour.
Famed for its grassy, linseed oiliness among whisky drinkers this cask of Teaninich had sufficient body to allow for an Oloroso sherry cask finish; it has retained its inherent class and wears its balanced enhancement from the finishing casks well, creating a memorable whisky experience.
