Hints of dried flowers on the nose, freshly sawn wood and deeper notes of malt loaf and raisins. On the palate, stewed fruits, peaches and plums, quite long and finishes with just a touch of lighter vanilla creme brulée.
The first bottling under the Mossburn name was released in 2017 as a range of classic Independent Bottler Malts. In the nearly three decades prior, the team developed and honed its skills in blending and bottling whiskies and a variety of other spirits. Their combined experience spans generations, with over a century of continuous family history in the Scotch Whisky industry.
The 2023 Single cask series offers a distinctive, individual expression from a single cask of select whiskies by independent distilleries, each finished in a cask of Mossburn's choice.
This is a vibrant, fruity whisky whose fruitiness has really been brought out here in the finishing cask. Complexity personified with a particular note to the malt loaf and raisin character which is so integrated that it is hard to know which part brought what. An intriguing dram.
