Moorooduc Pinot Gris 2013

Get to know: Moorooduc Pinot Gris

Tasting Note

A rare gem of a 10 year old vintage that is drinking beautifully. Well rounded with age offering layers of baked apple, pear, gooseberry, melon fruit with some spice, vanilla oak notes and gentle acidity. Opens up a fair bit with some air. Matured in old oak for around 10 months giving both texture and spice.

A joy to drink with washed rind cheese like Epoisses or Gruyère.

Kate Says

"It is a joy to bring you this very small amount of aged Pinot Gris from the brilliant Moorooduc. It has spent time in their cellars in perfect conditions developing a spicy richness and complexity that is very expressive. One to try with a cheeseboard."

Producer Info

Established in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc is a small, family run wine business that has built an enviable reputation for complex and food friendly wines. The philosophy here is to use top quality fruit that is produced by intensive, hands on work in the vineyard and minimal use of chemicals. The wines are then fermented using wild yeasts and minimal intervention to allow them to express the character of their individual sites. Moorooduc is rightly regarded as one of the leading lights in Mornington and one of the finest Pinot Noir producers in Australia.
