Get to know: Maremosso Catarratto
Tasting Note
Maremosso is the new name for the popular Baglio Antico Catarratto, an Italian orange wine made up of 100% Catarratto grapes. The juice in this bottle is the same quality stuff which spend a few weeks macerating on their skins to extract colour, flavour and texture during wild yeast fermentation. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration and with low sulfur and they use Organic practices in the vineyards. The wine itself has a lovely pithy texture, full of ginger, sweet spices and savory herbs.
Pair this with a cauliflower and apricot vegetable tagine.

"...the first port of call for fans of this frequently delicious genre, offering great bottles such as this red-apple, tangy Sicilian orange wine."

Kate Says
"This has quickly become one of our bestselling orange wines. It is a great introduction to the style. It has the pithiness you expect, along with some bright apple and apricot fruit and a spicy finish. Enjoy this with friends over sharing platters of food."
Producer Info
The Vesco family took over the Ciello winery 10 years ago and have since revolutionised the vineyard practices and invested heavily in cutting-edge technology for the winery and bottling line.
Their hundred hectares of organic vineyards are located high up in the hills above Alcamo. The wines are all certified organic and planted on south-east facing slopes on sandy soils 150 – 300m above sea level. The climate is well suited for producing the best quality grapes. Night harvesting and modern temperature-controlled fermentations result in a bright, fresh wine. The wines are unfiltered and have a hazy appearance.
