Get to know: Lyrarakis Assyrtiko Voila Vineyard 2024
A striking Greek white wine from the high-altitude Voila Vineyard in East Crete.
Tasting Note
Lyrarakis Assyrtiko Voila Vineyard 2024 is a bright, characterful white that shows a different side to Assyrtiko beyond Santorini. Pale yellow-straw in colour with inviting aromas of pear, green apple and lemon, alongside citrus blossom, subtle herbal notes and a gentle chalky freshness. On the palate, it’s lively and refreshing with flavours of juicy citrus, crisp orchard fruit and a touch of savoury complexity. There’s a lovely sense of freshness running through the wine, with a lightly textured feel that gives it extra interest without being heavy. The finish is clean, crisp and gently salty, making this Cretan white wine both easy to enjoy and brilliant with food.
Top food pairings:
- Pork with celery or fennel
- Grilled fish or shellfish with lemon and herbs
- Roast vegetables with olive oil and fresh thyme
Kate Says
"We love the wines of Lyrarakis. This example of the local Assyrtiko grape is made with real depth and confidence – fruity, salty, savoury and quietly powerful. One for the table rather than just the terrace, especially when food’s involved."
