Get to know: Laborie, Blanc de Blancs Cap Classique 2018
Tasting Note
Traditional method, blanc de blanc from 100% Chardonnay made in the Western Cape of south Africa. The nose reveals aromas of green apple, citrus and toasted bread and hazelnut, while the palate is creamy round and textured leading to a long finish. 5 years lees ageing gives richness and texture. Incredibly indulgent sparkling wine for a special occasion or just with Friday nights fish and chips!
Try this on its own or paired with seafood, salads and light dishes.
Kate Says
"This is a delightful fizz that showcases the quality and finesse of South African sparkling wines. It is fresh, but rich and indulgent with a lot of complexity from the long lees ageing. A perfect choice for any celebration or occasion."
Producer Info
Laborie is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, dating back to 1691. It traces its origins to French Huguenot Isaac Taillefert and his son Jean, who planted vines and made wine there. Their wine was praised for its quality and resemblance to Champagne. Laborie still produces wines of distinction today, based on their French heritage and expertise. It is situated in the Paarl Valley, at the foothills of the Paarl Mountain. The estate produces a range of wines, including still, sparkling and fortified wines, that reflect the terroir and the tradition of the region. Laborie is committed to sustainable farming practices and social responsibility, and is a proud member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative.
