Get to know: La Patagua Wine
A joyfully juicy natural white wine from Chile's Colchagua Valley.
Tasting Note
Ripe pineapple and lychee jump out first, with a squeeze of citrus running underneath. It's cloudy in the glass — properly natural, unfiltered and left to do its own thing — and the fruit stays juicy rather than sweet, kept in check by real acidity. There's a touch more alcohol than you'd expect from a wine this easy-drinking, but it sits well within the whole rather than sticking out. Chill it right down and it earns its place on a warm day, the sort of white you keep pouring more of.
Top food pairings:
- Spicy chicken empanada
- Grilled prawns with chilli and lime
- Charred sweetcorn and avocado salad with a squeeze of lime
Kate Says
"This one's a customer favourite when the sun's out - hazy, unfiltered, and made about as naturally as you can get, with barely any sulphites in there, around 50mg/l. What you're tasting is close to the fruit itself. Get it nicely chilled and it does most of the work for you."
Producer Info
Vinos Inacayal is a collaboration project between wine importer Les Caves de Pyrenes and Luca Hodgkinson of Metic winery. They set out to create good value wines as naturally as possible, using grape varieties that thrive in Chile's Colchagua Valley.
How it's made:
- Varieties: Predominantly Semillon, with a portion of Moscatel
- Grapes pressed in whole bunches to keep the juice clean
- Cold settled for a couple of days before racking
- Fermented with wild, indigenous yeast in stainless steel
- Short élevage in tank before bottling, with no filtration

Why we love it:
This natural Chilean white wine is a proper warm-weather crowd-pleaser - hazy, juicy and unmistakably itself, with just enough sulphite to hold it together and nothing else getting in the way.
