Another fantastic wine from the skilled winemakers at KMV. This modern, multi-layered and Bordeaux-style blend shows aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, plums, and black cherries with nuances of pencil shavings and dried herbs. On the palate, there are layers of sweet fruit with intense concentration supported by a firm tannin structure and excellent length on the expressive finish. It delivers a complexity beyond the sum of its parts.
This would be superb with a braised lamb shoulder.
"KWV is one of South Africa's leading wine producers, renowned throughout the world for their premium quality. We're lucky to have been able to secure 36 bottles of this release and once it's gone, it is gone."
The blend is made up of 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Petit Verdot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, 10% Malbec, 6% Carmenere from three vineyards across Stellenbosch (72%) Paarl (22%) and Wellington (6%)
The wine is all about selecting the best of the best of each variety. Once selected the greapes are fermented and onlu the most promising are chosen for continused maturation. After 12 months the again the finest were chosen and aged for a further 6 months before blending.
