Jerome Lacondemine, Fleurie "Le Sauvage" 2023

Get to know: Jerome Lacondemine, Fleurie "Le Sauvage" 2023

Tasting Note

A Fleurie with a wild side – this is Beaujolais, but not as you know it. From the organically farmed vineyards of Jérôme Lacondemine, *"Le Sauvage"* is vibrant, pure, and just a touch untamed.

Expect juicy red cherry and raspberry upfront, with flickers of violet, black pepper, and a hint of earthy spice. The texture is silky but energetic, with a crunch of acidity and fine, dusty tannins that give it shape and drive.

Unfined, unfiltered, and fermented with native yeasts – this wine wears its natural edge with pride, but it’s beautifully balanced and totally drinkable.

Try this with grilled lamb chops or herby roast chicken, chargrilled aubergine, lentils, and tahini, soft cheeses like Brie or Saint-Marcellin or simply a rustic plate of saucisson and crusty bread.

Best served slightly cool – pop it in the fridge for 20 mins before pouring.

Kate says

“This Fleurie is a little bit wild – in the best possible way. It’s got that gorgeous floral lift you expect, but with depth and soul underneath. If you like natural wines that don’t go too far off the deep end, this is a beauty. Floral, spicy, and just a bit rock ’n’ roll.”

Producer Info

Jérôme Lacondemine is a low-intervention grower based in the heart of Beaujolais, working organically and letting the Gamay grape speak for itself. "Le Sauvage" comes from old vines on granite soils in Fleurie – one of the region’s most elegant crus.

No oak – just wild fermentation, minimal sulphur, and pure expression of site and grape. The 2023 vintage brings extra ripeness and roundness, without losing the zip and perfume that make Fleurie so beloved.
