Bramble, blackcurrant, spice and dark chocolate dominate the nose and the palate is stuffed full of dark, delicious fruit given detail by more spice and ripe, textured tannins. A really serious wine but also immediately engaging.
This will certainly benefit from decanting in its youth to let it open up, but is by no means a necessity. Anything char-grilled will fit the bill perfectly and will cope with all sorts of strong flavours.
Jeanneret see Shiraz as the Rank and File grape of the Australian wine industry. It's grown in almost every wine region and its ability to produce big, soft, rich and balanced wines have made it possible for winemakers to build their reputations with it. Shiraz from the Clare Valley has all these characteristics and its own unique form and structure.
The 2020 Rank & File Shiraz is the result of a combination of low yielding vineyards and low intervention winemaking creating a wine of excellent texture, complexity and depth.
