Get to know: Jeanneret, Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec
Tasting Note
This has an impossibly rich nose of cassis and red berries with big spicy notes complimenting the medley of aromas. The palate is textured and mouth watering with great firmness and grip from the cabernet and a big fleshy middle thanks to that fantastic, dark, savoury malbec. It’s very, very approachable now and will gain character and complexity over the next 5 years or so.
Delicious with a croque monsieur (a hot ham and Gruyere cheese sandwich) but also great with roast beef or lamb.
Producer Info
It's often said that opposites attract and these two grape varieties look very different on the vine. Cabernet grapes have thick hard skins in tight little bunches, Malbec on the otherhand has thin skinned grapes on large unwieldy bunches. Blend them together though and the resulting wine can be amazing.
