Tasting Note
This a southern French red with a lot of easy charm, using a blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah grapes. On the nose you're met with aromas of jammy plum, raspberry, warm baking spice and a touch of pepper. The palate is juicy and generous with more ripe fruit, gentle tannins and enough fresh acidity to make it versatile with food.
A wine you can easily enjoy with a spinach & ricotta pizza or serve up with a roast chicken.
Kate Says
A southern French gem here. Easy going, medium-bodied blend with crunchy and ripe red fruits, juicy acidity and delicate tannins. This delivers plenty of bang for your buck. I'd enjoy it with a veggie pizza."
Producer Info
Making the most of the character of Southern French varietals and using modern winemaking techniques, Xavier Roger produces a diverse portfolio of wines that are a superb example of the quality that is being produced in the South of France at affordable prices. The grapes for this wine are harvested at peak ripeness before being destemmed and divided into two sections. One passes the modern process of flash-detente and hot skin contact maceration. After that, the juice goes through cool temperature fermentation to extract and enhance the varietals’ aromatic qualities. The other part of the fruit is traditionally fermented on the skin for about ten days to add structure to the wine. Finally each variety is blended before bottling.
