This historic estate dates right back to the 12th century, with it's modern day roots being in the 1950's when the Marchi family bought and joined neighbouring estates Isole and Olena to become Isole e Olena. This is old vine Sangiovese with a touch of Canaiolo and Syrah using large oak casks for ageing, only a small proportion of which are new.
Full of sour cherries and dark bramble fruits this is a big, bold, sturctured wine with grippy tannins and taut acidity. Definitely a wine to enjoy with food and in this case the old mantra 'where it grows it goes' works perfectly, think wild boar ragu with papperdelle!
