Get to know: Hogan Wines, Chenin Blanc
Tasting Note
A stunning example of South African Chenin blanc. This is intense and concentrated with aromas of peach, yellow plum, apple, nectarine and a hint of ginger. The palate opens with a creamy honeyed richness and has a delicately complex depth of flavour and freshness with a hint of saline and minerality on the finish.
Try this with pasta with blue cheese and walnuts
Kate Says
"I love this kind of intense, precise and textured Chenin Blanc. Winemaker Jocelyn Hogan Wilson has a talent for producing expressive wines with a sense of place. I'd enjoy this at a dinner party with seabass."
Producer Info
Hogan wines was started in 2014 as a small, family-run business with Jocelyn Hogan Wilson as winemaker. Their wines are made in the beautiful Banhoek Valley with grapes sourced from various regions of the Western Cape, with vineyards selected in terms of suitability of climate and soil to the varietals they use. Natural fermentation took place in 225L and 300L barrels, followed by natural malolactic fermentation, after which the wine received the first sulphur addition
