Harrow & Hope Blanc de Blancs 2018

Get to know: Harrow & Hope Blanc de Blancs

Tasting Note

When you’re blessed with exceptionally ripe and healthy fruit as Harrow & Hope were in 2018 it enables you to take a very hands off approach in the winery.  This wine retains that quality of character as you that the grapes promised. There's fresh and baked apple, brioche and orange blossom and citrus flavours that are very nicely balanced. If the 2017 had a taut, mineral core that is evolving beautifully over time, then this 2018 is a more seductive style that is quite ‘showy’ on but still has that fine chalky structure that will guarantee its longevity.

Producer Info

Over half a million years, their part of the Chiltern Hills has been shaped by the retreating Thames, leaving behind an environment ideal for creating world-class sparkling wine. Alas, the same flint rocks that make their single vineyard estate a dream for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, also make it a nightmare to work and cultivate – as two broken harrows testify. But then nothing worth treasuring ever came easy.

Grown, picked and expertly blended by the same team on the same site, each glass of Harrow & Hope is a tribute to traditional method viticulture and winemaking, to the unique characteristics of Marlow and to the spirit of adventure.

Once again all the fruit comes from a single chalky plot of Chardonnay with 50% fermented in 500 litre puncheon barrels and the other 50% in stainless steel. Aged on lees for 34 months.
