Tasting Note

Pour this one and you'll notice the colour first: a striking deep rose from the Port cask. On the nose it's dark fruit and candied cloves, with a streak of blackcurrant liquorice underneath. The palate builds in layers: brambles and blackcurrant jam early on, moving through treacle toffee and Morello cherry into plum crumble and a touch of cedarwood spice. It finishes warm, walnut and golden syrup fading slowly into toasted wood. This is the kind of dram that's happy to be sipped slowly over a whole evening.

Serving suggestions:

• Neat, taken slowly, to let the Port character unfold
• Alongside a cheeseboard, particularly something blue or well-aged
• Works nicely in an Old Fashioned in place of bourbon, for something a bit different
