A bright, honest Highland single malt whisky from Glencadam, one of Scotland's smallest and least-known distilleries.
There's a freshness to this one that hits you before anything else, pineapple and lemon curd, a bit of brioche underneath. It's bottled at 46% with nothing added and nothing taken away: no colouring, no chill-filtration, so what you get in the glass is exactly what came out of the cask. On the palate it's grassy and bright, citrus zest running through layers of tropical fruit, before settling into a clean, gentle finish of vanilla pod and a little nutmeg. Nothing here is trying to impress you with complexity, it's just well made, honest whisky that goes down easy.
Serving suggestions:
"Glencadam doesn't get talked about the way some Highland names do, and I think that's exactly why it's worth having on the shelf. This is the whisky you pour for someone who says they 'don't really like whisky', and you watch them come round."
Glencadam Distillery is based in Brechin, Angus, in the Scottish Highlands, and is part of the Angus Dundee Distillers group. It's a distillery that keeps a low profile, but it's built a loyal following among people who've tried the whisky rather than the marketing.
This is a Highland single malt whisky that does the basics brilliantly: fresh, fruity, bottled honestly. A dependable everyday dram that never feels like a compromise.
