Get to know: Emile Balland, Sancerre Croq Caillotte
Tasting Note
Sancerre produces the most elegant, crisp and dry examples of Sauvignon Blanc. This has all the delicate lemon, gooseberry and apple you'd expect from this grape variety with a little grassiness, a slatey minerality and a sublime, silky texture with a zesty acidity on the finish.
Try this with light fish dishes with asparagus or goats cheese.
Producer Info
The son of wine growers, Emile naturally makes his own Sancerre from a single hectare of vines, 10% of which are in his home town, which he is very proud of. He calls his Sancerre Croq Caillotte in recognition of the flavor imparted by the white stones covering the vineyards, and which are the hallmark of Sancerres terroir.
