Get to know: E.H. Taylor Small Batch (70cl, 50%)
Kentucky bourbon whiskey from Buffalo Trace, bottled in small batches at 50%.
Tasting Note
Dark gold in the glass, with a sweet, fruity nose of green apple, orange marmalade and pineapple over vanilla and oak. The first sip is spicy and strong, with rye spice and cinnamon before apple, cherry and brown sugar come through. A little dark coffee and drying oak sit underneath. The finish runs fairly long, with baking spices and a touch of bitter orange.
Serving suggestions:
- Neat, with a few drops of water to open it up
- Over one large ice cube with a twist of orange peel
- In an Old Fashioned with a dash of bitters
Kate Says
"At 50% this has plenty of power, so I'd add a few drops of water and let it open up before you decide what you think. If you'd rather mix it, an Old Fashioned does it justice."
