Get to know: Domaine Pouderoux, Maury (50cl)
Tasting Note
Rich, indulgent, and beautifully balanced, this Maury is a dark, brooding sweet wine bursting with ripe black cherries, cassis, and warming spice. Layers of cocoa, tobacco, and a touch of rancio complexity add depth, while the luscious sweetness is offset by firm tannins and a long, velvety finish.
The perfect pairing for chocolate based desserts, your favourite bar of dark chocolate, blue cheese, or simply savoured on its own.
Kate Says
"If you love vintage Port or Banyuls, this is a must-try. Think deep, dark fruit with a savoury edge, silky yet structured. It’s got a luxurious intensity that makes it a knockout with anything chocolatey. A little glass of this, a square of dark chocolate, and you’re sorted!"
Producer Info
Domaine Pouderoux has been making wine in the rugged hills of Maury since 1826. Today, Robert and Catherine Pouderoux continue the family tradition, crafting wines from old vines rooted in schistous and granite soils. Their Maury is a classic Vin Doux Naturel, made from sun-ripened Grenache using the mutage method to preserve natural sweetness. Aged in wood for added complexity, this is a stunningly rich yet refined dessert wine with serious aging potential.
