Get to know: Domaine Alexandre, Chablis Vieilles Vignes
From 60 year old vines planted by winemaker duo Guy and Olivier's grandfather. The quality fruit delivers a lovely crisp and clean Chablis with a bit more concentration and intensity. The nose is delicate with nectarine, lemon citrus and lots of minerality. Subtle fruity flavours develop quickly on the palate which has a soft body and a layered richness with light melon and lime fruit leading to with a fresh finish with decent length. Very precise and true to style.
A delight with oysters or a Dover sole
"A very classy Chablis that really shows off the purity of fruit that make Domaine Alexandre wines so satisfying. It has all the lean crisp minerality you expect with a little extra intensity that makes it shine. I'd enjoy this with grilled seabass."
Domaine Alexandre is a family business handed down over three generations. Brothers Guy and Olivier run the estate today which is set over 13 hectares of vineyards in the heart of Chablis. The vineyards are worked with great care and yields are kept low to produce expressive wines with concentrated fruit.
The brothers take great care in the winery employing gentle pneumatic pressing, stainless steel tanks and gentle racking to allow the fruit to be the star of the show and express itself fully in the finished wine.
