Get to know: Domaine Remoriquet, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Les Bousselots 2001
Tasting Note
An earthy and well-developed wine that still has hints of blackberries but is far more about the mushroomy, leather, truffle and game notes. A very complex sip that lingers well with some acidity still present. Out of the bottle it is tight, high in acidity and tannins but still shows superb crunchy wild strawberries and lovely notes of evolution. Give it some time in a decanter and it becomes less raw and wild and becomes more balanced and totally mesmerising. This is drinking well now, however we would recommend decanting.
Try with game.

It's not often you get a chance to try a Burgundy that is already over 20 years old, so grab this fantastic parcel while you can. 2001 was a good vintage particularly in the Côte de Nuits so the wines here have stood up to age well.
Producer Info
Gilles Remoriquet is not a winemaker who rests on his laurels, forever looking for ways to improve his wines. Most recently he has been to the Jura to see a specialist about selecting the right blend of manure and has bought a second sorting table which eliminates under-ripe berries by flotation. The attention to detail flows right the way through from his vineyards to the winery.
Aux Bousselots is a Premier Cru classified vineyard located at the bottom of the Côte D'Or slope where a southeasterly aspect ensure the vines receive the morning sunshine and ripen well in Burgundy's cool climate. The result is a well-balanced wine with ample acidity to support the rich fruit flavors, further softened by the rich soil.
