A beautifully expressive Châteauneuf-du-Pape white wine from the historic vineyards of the Southern Rhône Valley.
Domaine de Saje Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc "Marquis Anselme Mathieu" 2022 is an elegant and characterful white that balances richness with freshness. Pale gold in colour with inviting aromas of white peach, honeysuckle, citrus peel, and a subtle touch of spice from its traditional Rhône blend. On the palate, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is medium-bodied with a rounded texture, offering flavours of ripe stone fruit, lemon zest, and a gentle floral lift. There’s a soft, supple mouthfeel balanced by a refreshing line of acidity, leading to a smooth, lingering finish with a hint of citrus and spice. A classic Southern Rhône white that’s both approachable now and capable of developing added complexity over time.
Top food pairings:
"This is one of those whites that quietly surprises you – generous and rounded, but with just enough freshness to keep you coming back for another glass."
Domaine de Saje is a family-run estate with roots in Châteauneuf-du-Pape dating back to the 16th century. Jérôme Mathieu, the current winemaker, represents more than nine generations of growers in the appellation and takes a hands-on approach from vineyard to bottle. The estate covers around 7.5 hectares across 23 plots in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and a further three in Orange, many planted as traditional field blends including all 13 authorised grape varieties. The vineyards are farmed without herbicides, allowing the Southern Rhône terroir to express itself fully in the wines.
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape white wine offers a brilliant balance of ripe stone fruit, floral aromatics, and refreshing citrus lift. A versatile Southern Rhône white, it’s equally suited to food or sipping on its own – a great choice for those looking to explore beyond the region’s famous reds.
