Get to know: Domaine Belleville, Mercurey Les Perrieres

Tasting Note

"Perrière" is an old French word for quarry and describes the location of the vineyard in the middle of a stony slope in Mercurey. The wine is a nice deep garnet-red colour in the glass. On the nose it is open and inviting with fresh black fruits, such as blackberries, with a spicy touch. On the palate the fruit continues the texture is round and delicate with well integrated tannins. It finished with satisfying good length. This is very enjoyable now but will cellar well in good conditions for 5-6 years.

Producer Info

Domaine Belleville was established in Rully at the begining of the 20th century in the heart of Burgundy. With 22 Hectares spread out from north to south their wines express a diverse range of styles from both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The graepes for this wine are grown on a terroir in the middle of a stony slope with a rocky outcrop, one of the most beautiful in Mercurey. Harvested in 2 goes due to the age of the vines which are over 40 year old. The pressed wine spend 12 months in French oak, 35% of which is new.
