This is a great value white Burgundy from a great vintage. There's lovely fresh grapefruit and lemon and apple fruit on the nose and palate with balanced oak ageing adding a lovely creaminess to the texture and giving it lovely body and depth. The finish is long and very impressive. This is vibrant and fresh now, despite the richness and will mature and become more complex if cellared correctly for 5+ years.
A wine to enjoy with shellfish.
"This gorgeous Chardonnay uses fruit from their oldest vines which gives it pristine fruit, a rounded texture, a little almondy softness with elegant apple fruit. I reckonit’s come together nicely since I tried it a year ago. Sylvain then gives it a bit of Meursault-like richness through barrel ageing. I'd have this with something in a creamy sauce."
A beautiful 6.5 hectare estate based in Meursault, known for theit’s fabulous Chardonnay, Sylvain took over in 1982. The practice is sustainable albeit not organic. No synthetic fertilisers or treatments, indigenous yeast fermentation. Here they use the oldest vines on their estate and ageing takes place in oak barrels for around 18 months before bottling.
