The red wines of Sorine & Fils are made from the Pinot Noir grapes and are grown on vines over 50 years old. This is aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels (20 to 30% new wood) which offers a light touch complementing the medium extraction that keeps the wine light on the palate.. The result is an elegant, fruit wines with cherries, spices and forest floor notes. This offers a lot of complexity that, and is built for ageing 5+ years.
Pair this with guinea fowl with cabbage and lardons.
The Sorine are one of the oldest families in the village of Santenay. After abandoning the vineyard following the phylloxera crisis, Charles Sorine took over the vines in 1925. In 1987, Christian joined his father on the farm. Emma joined him in 2009. Together, they have restored a magnificent building in Cheilly-lès-Maranges including a cellar for sale and tasting and cellars of the 15th and 18th century allowing the aging in barrels of all their cuvées. They manage their vineyards according to biodymanic principles and gently filter the wines on site with very little added sulpur.
