Get to know: Dom. Capdevielle, Jurancon Sec Brise l'Ocean
Here's a delicious Southern French wine that hides some bright and zesty fruit behind it's simple label. It has a lively nose with lemon, peach and a touch of exotic fruit. It's vibrant and expressive in the mouth with lots more of that juicy fruit, leading to a well balanced, mouthwatering finish with a slight saline note.
A versatile wine to enjoy with food. It'll pair with charcuterie but why not try it with a grilled seabass.
Situated in the heart of Monein and the Béarn, facing the Pyrénées Mountains, Domaine Capdevielle currently has 25 hectares, 12 of these are planted to vines on the perfectly situated South/ South-easterly facing slopes of the property. In 1993, Didier Capdevielle joined his Uncle Casimir to create the winery on the site of their farm which has existed on this site since 1847.
The clay loam soil is full of pebbles, carried by the melt waters and glaciers of the Pyrénées, allowing the heat of the day to be tempered and to be redistributed at night, and helping to ensure a plentiful supply of water, even in dry weather; perfect conditions for ripening grapes.
50% Gros Manseng and 50% Petit Manseng. Ripe grapes, carefully selected from the thinned vines. Hand-picked at the beginning of October. Fermented and aged for six months in steel, ‘sur lie’ (on yeast) to allow the flavours to develop.
