Get to know: Dom. André Colonge Beaujolais-Villages 2023
A classic French red wine that captures everything we love about Beaujolais-Villages, made from old-vine Gamay in the heart of northern Beaujolais.
Tasting Note
Dom. André Colonge Beaujolais-Villages is an elegant, fruit-led red that’s all about freshness, charm and drinkability. Deep ruby with vibrant purple hues, it opens with inviting aromas of ripe red berries, fresh grapes, strawberry compote and a gentle hint of sweet spice. On the palate, this Beaujolais red wine is medium-bodied and beautifully supple, with juicy raspberry and cherry fruit supported by silky tannins and just the right amount of acidity to keep everything lively. The finish is smooth, creamy and moreish – a textbook example of Gamay from Beaujolais-Villages.
Top food pairings:
- Charcuterie boards with terrines and cured meats
- Roast chicken or rabbit fricassee
- Soft cheeses and semi-hard French classics
Kate Says
"This is proper, no-fuss Beaujolais – juicy, supple and quietly confident. Lightly chilled, it’s one of those bottles that is effortless to enjoy."
Producer Info
Domaine André Colonge et Fils is a family-run estate based in Lancié, uniquely positioned right in the heart of the Beaujolais crus, surrounded by Fleurie, Morgon, Chiroubles and Moulin-à-Vent. Now run by fourth-generation brothers Landry and Samuel Colonge, alongside their father Serge, the domaine champions traditional, hands-on vineyard work and careful winemaking. Their Beaujolais-Villages vineyards sit on granitic, sandy soils similar to Fleurie, giving their wines extra finesse, freshness and depth.
