Get to know: Chelti, Tsinandali
Tasting Note
A real, fruit forward taste of Georgian wine. This white is made from local grape varieties Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane and offers a subtle but intriguing nose: creamy and ripe white berries, elderflower/jasmine. Soft on the palate with some fun fruitiness of nectarine, melon and grapefruit coming through and starts opening up. There's a subtle nutty character coming through, which leads to a long, complex finish. Something deliciously different!
Try this with a mujadara with lentils, rice and fragrant spices and caramelised shallots
Kate Says
"A really interesting wine, and enjoyable too. Floral, fruity, tropical and subtly savoury."
Producer Info
One of Georgia's finest family-owned wineries whose wines receive multiple awards each vintage. The history of Chelti Winery can be traced back to the last century, when in the depth of the Kakheti region, in the village of Shilda, the ancestors of the Mirianashvili family built their first wine cellar. The family tradition was revived in 2001 with the initiative of Giorgi Mirianashvili, the founder and CEO of the Chelti Winery Company, who expanded on the already existing household cellars and vineyards. The total space of the territory now amounts to 80 hectares and includes vineyards, traditional Georgian (Qveri) and Classic (oak & steel) cellars, an underground wine warehouse and a tourist complex.
